“FAQ” from site-launch

Welcome to the new site, officially launched on the evening of April 22, 2008.  We hope you like it, and it was a long time coming.  Here are a couple of minor issues that some people are having trouble with:

Why should I register?  The decision to require a username and password in order to comment on the site was made primarily for two reasons.  One, to keep spammers out; and two, to help build a community.  At the old site the majority of comments seemed to be coming from “Anonymous,” making it difficult to follow the debate.  With usernames, people within the community can build an identity for themselves.  Registration takes less than a minute (literally), so please sign up!

I’m having trouble logging in.  The main reason people are having trouble signing is is because the username you selected is case sensitive.  If your username is “SodoMojo” you have to type it in just like that, no “sodomojo” or “Sodomojo.”  Comprende?  That said, I would seriously recommend against making your name something goofy like “gRiFFeYfaN24.”  If you want a crazy name like that, you can change the way your name is displayed after you register.  If you are still having trouble, email me and I’ll get you squared away in no time.

Where can the old posts be found?  All posts dated before April 22, 2008 are from the old site.  Therefore these posts are not going to be under any categories or tags and may have formatting issues.  I’ve already come across a few that have transformed from multi-paragraph models of organization into mashed up, hard to read single paragraphed posts of doom.  If you’re going to venture back into the archives, do so at your own risk.  You can still search through these posts through this site though, and there are some good reads back there.  I put together some of the better posts from the old site here.
