Happy New GM Day!(?)

by Jon Shields ~ October 21st, 2008

The Seattle Mariners are expected to announce which of the four finalists– Tony LaCava, Jerry Dipoto, Kim Ng, Jack Zduriencik– will succeed Bill Bavasi and Lee Pelekoudas as Seattle’s next GM.

The announcement could be held off until the World Series off day or after the Series has concluded, but all interviews have been conducted and there is no reason to wait.

Dipoto gets my full endorsement now, and I believe fellow BBT writers Dustin and Rob are both in the LaCava camp, although we’ll all agree that it’ll be tough for Howie and Chuck to make a bad decision with the four finalists.

The anticipation is killing me!

    Not looking promising for today.

My guess is they would announce it around 2 PM, but they may be waiting for folks to get off work.

I don’t know, I don’t think they will announce it today.

    Well so much for that…

Hopefully they’ll announce it soon and it doesn’t drag out like the Bedard trade.

    Hopefully tomorrow…

…Lincoln and Armstrong sure know how to piss the fans off.

Watch it be announced at like 2 AM or something…

I don’t think they’d announce it on the first day of the World Series, and I don’t think they’d announce it on the off day, either.. but who knows.

Some people think that Seattle is waiting for the end of the World Series so they can talk to Pat Gillick, but I find that pretty hard to believe.

Hopefully the Rays can sweep so that we’ll have a new GM sooner than later!
