Avila Eliminated
by Jon Shields ~ October 14th, 2008
Remember Al Avila, the assistant GM with the Detroit Tigers and a finalist for the job five years ago? Well, he won’t even get a shot at the job this time around.
“We asked permission of (Tigers GM Dave) Dombrowski and were declined,” said Mariners spokesman Tim Hevly, speaking on behalf of team president Chuck Armstrong.
This is good news. Avila isn’t the absolute worst candidate in the world, but I’d prefer Seattle hire almost any of the hopefuls they’ve interviewed so far. Now I just need John Hart and a few other retreads to be officially dismissed for peace of mind.

It is good news. John Hart is now off the board as well according to USSM.
Good Good, news. The only bad choice right now is Bernazard.
