Cross Your Fingers
by Jon Shields ~ September 27th, 2008
Over recent weeks I’ve been writing that I cannot root against the Mariners when I’m watching the game. Well, desperate times call for desperate measures. I’m ready to root wholeheartedly against them Sunday against Oakland.
Seattle’s unbelievably won their past two ballgames (Dustin was at both, he must be a good bad luck charm), making the Race for Strasburg come right down to the wire. In order for Seattle to secure the top pick, they need to lose and the Nationals need to win against the playoff bound Phillies.
Hold on to your butts!

Honestly, I was so into the Friday night game, mostly because Morrow was on the mound and Lopez was swinging a powerful stick, that I couldn’t root for a loss, even though it was definitely in the back of my mind…
But of all times to start winning, why did it have to be now?
