Triunfel NOT Promoted
by Jon Shields ~ August 19th, 2008
Below is the post about top prospect Carlos Triunfel being promoted to AA. I guess there was some false reports out there, possibly stemming from Triunfel’s lineup absence. Turns out, Triunfel strained his groin a bit and was getting the day off. He could still be promoted, a possibility under consideration by the organization, but don’t count on it.
Monday: The Seattle Mariners’ minor league affiliates all have the youngest average age in their respective leagues (excluding rookie ball) and the organization is continuing the trend of pushing their top prospects by promoting 18 year old Carlos Triunfel to AA West Tennessee. He should be the Diamond Jaxx’ starting shortstop for the remainder of the season (15 games plus playoffs).
Hopefully he’ll prove that his hot hitting can continue away from the hitter friendly California League, though there is a good chance he’ll struggle. Either way, he’s maxed out in High Desert and this promotion gives him a healthy head start going into next season.

I guess that I, for one, am glad he wasn’t promoted. Even if West Tennessee could have used him.
Hopefully, he’ll start the 2009 season with the Diamond Jaxx, though, and have a solid season for them. Who knows, maybe he’ll even make his way to Tacoma by season’s end….now that would be pushing it!
