Series Thread: M’s at Angels 8/12-8/13
by Jon Shields ~ August 12th, 2008
Game 1: Jarrod Washburn vs. Jon Garland
Game 2: Felix Hernandez vs. Ervin Santana
Coming into the season a lot of us expected, or at least hoped, that games like these would mean a lot more. In reality, this game is about as meaningless as it gets. Obviously the Mariners aren’t playing for anything, nor can they play spoiler in games like this as the Angels are a lock for the playoffs already.
At least we’ll have one helluva pitching matchup in game 2.

Beltre–3B
Lopez–2B
Clement–C
Wlad–CF
LaHair–1B

Great Sox/Rangers game I’m jumping back and forth on Texas 16 Boston 15. Boston started with a 10 run lead in the 1st. I wish we were playing like that.

Sacks full for Ibanez, show us some more Raul.

3-0, small ball works too.

Good start, but Clement goofed another popup. Gotta make those plays, they’re free outs! At least it didn’t come back to bite him.

Texas one more in the 9th, but alas, not enough.

Bunticant has got to be traded.

Ouch. Time for an adult beverage.

This team is getting harder and harder to watch on the daily.

Most difficult, I agree. Project next year, if the FO doesn’t do anything but try to get rid of the deadwood. Who do you on the field next year? Humor me, I’ve started to drink.

Seattle should sign the entire winning team of the Little League World Series. That would be an improvement.

Good plan, but maybe keep Felix and Wlad to go with the 14 year olds.

Sounds like a plan since I don’t have a good comeback. I’ll have one about 10 tomorrow morning, but for now that will do. I think I’ll check out the Olympics on Canadian TV. Washburn isn’t likely to get his 99th win tonight, but Felix is on tomorrow, that’s something I can look forward to.

3B: Beltre
C: Johnson
DH: Ibanez
SP: Felix

SP: Rowland-Smith
SP: Dickey
CP: Morrow
BullPen: Green

Morse’s defense in the outfield is downright embarrassing. Wlad?
And you’re missing some guys like Carlos Silva. Those $48M contracts don’t just disappear. It’s unfortunate, I know.
