Sexson to Yankees
by Jon Shields ~ July 17th, 2008
It looks like Richie Sexson is about to sign with the New York Yankees. He’ll be signing for the league minimum, so it is a classic “low risk, high reward” move by Yankees GM Brian Cashman.
The first thing that came to mind for me when I heard the news was this: If Richie can’t handle the boo-birds in Seattle, how is he going to handle those “Bronx cheers” in New York? He’ll get ripped to shreds!
The second thing was that he was released by the Mariners, in part, because he wasn’t willing to take on a part-time role with the team, but the Yankees are picking him up, from what I’m reading, to start against lefties. I suppose that it is much easier to be a part-time player on a good team than a part-time player on one of the league’s worst teams.

I give it two months before Richie has a near nervous breakdown from the booing in New York….Or until he just doesn’t play anymore…
